Kevin Magnussen has revealed he hopes to race in IndyCar when his Formula 1 career ends.

The Haas driver will be entering his sixth season on the grid this year but has never really met the potential most expected of him when he debuted with McLaren in 2014.

Indeed, until now, his best finish in the sport remains the second place he scored in his first race in Australia six years ago.

And after admitting some disillusionment with F1 last year, answering questions from fans via RACER, the Dane revealed he already has his next move planned out.

“I’ve always had a passion for IndyCar,” Magnussen said.

“I’ve always had a passion for all racing series, but certainly IndyCar has been something I’ve had an interest in since my dad raced in it.

“I think the series is very cool, and I think the tracks they go to are incredible.

“I would certainly love to do it one day. Hopefully I’ll get a chance. It’s a yes!”

His father Jan competed when the series was known as CART in the late 1990s and given his American connections via Haas it perhaps wouldn't be surprising to see Kevin there sooner rather than later.
