Opinions are mixed on the future potential of Mick Schumacher after a significant week in his motorsport career.

First, the son of seven-time Formula 1 champion Michael competed in his first weekend of F2 and then followed in his father footsteps by testing for Ferrari on Tuesday before jumping in the Alfa Romeo on Wednesday.

After his two days in modern F1 machinery, Schumacher admitted some surprise at how easy the transition had been before adding...

"I am satisfied with my driving and with the confidence that I have gained."

Also happy with the 20-year-old was Ferrari boss Mattia Binotto.

"It's really fun to work with Mick. He is extremely willing to learn and is totally involved," he said.

A key figure in Michael's success, now F1 motorsport director Ross Brawn closely followed Mick's performance.

"How disciplined he was in dealing with these sensitive tyres is exceptional for such a young driver," he told Germany's Sport Bild.

"I know the same focus, discipline and tunnel vision on the track from his father. Mick is on the right track."

Not everyone is convinced Schumacher will be the next big thing though.

"In Formula 2 he's driving a very competitive car, but he took an eighth and a sixth place in Bahrain," ex-Ferrari boss Cesare Fiorio was quoted by GPFans.com.

"In F1 testing he was second, but with a set of tyres two steps softer than [Max] Verstappen, who was faster than him.

"By now, Mick Schumacher doesn't look competitive to me, but anyway they are making a big fuss around him."
