Xavier Simeon will move up to MotoGP next season, as the Belgian joins Avintia Racing to compete alongside Tito Rabat in the squad – with an agreement in place for both 2018 and 2019.

Former FIM STK1000 Cup winner Simeon debuted in Moto2 in 2010, and took his first win in the category two years later in the German GP.

"It’s a fantastic opportunity and I’ve been working hard to get it for many years. I’m so happy to make this dream a reality; a dream I’ve been pursuing since I was a child." Said Simeon

"Day after day, I’ve done everything I could to get here. My efforts, alongside those of Freddy Tacheny and the Zelos team, have come to fruition and I want to thank them."

"I won my Superstock title with Ducati and I‘m very happy to be back with the marque at Reale Avintia Racing. I want to try the bike." He added

"Once more I’d like to thank my sponsors and my fans for having believed in me and for all their support they’re giving me in this new challenge."

Ducati rider Andrea Dovizioso arrives at the Aragon GP equal on points with Marc Marquez at the top of the standings, and now it's his turn to race in enemy territory.

With five races left and both riders also equal on wins - four apiece - the devil will be in the detail, and Dovizioso will be pushing hard for the podium once more.

"MotorLand Aragón is a really nice but rather unusual track, completely different from Misano where I stepped onto the podium for the first time in my GP career two weeks ago." Said the Italian

"Now we know we are competitive on all tracks, and both me and my team are really excited about the last five races, so I’ll be aiming for a podium again this weekend" He added

The Italian completed a mandatory medical examination carried out by MotorLand Aragón's Chrief Medical Officer, Clemente Millan.

He declared that the nine-time World Champion is fit to ride, 21 days after sustaining a leg injury.

Rossi will therefore take part in the FP1 session tomorrow.

Maverick Viñales took a solid P4 last time out at Misano, and now the title challenger is gunning for the top at his home Aragon GP.

With a deficit of 16 points to the top - where Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda Team) and Andrea Dovizioso (Ducati Team) sit, equal on 199 each - the 2013 Moto3 World Champion is looking to close that gap down on home turf.

"I'm very happy to head to Aragón because for us it's like a second home Grand Prix and we know that we can do a good performance there with the M1." Said the Spaniard

"It's one of my favourite tracks because of its lay-out, in Aragón we can be very fast. We are 16 points behind and we need to close that gap as soon as possible."

"For that reason, it's very important to push and believe that we can do it. In Misano we made a big step and I'm sure that we will do another important step this weekend. It's very important to stay focused."
