Aron Canet came through to take pole position in a qualifying session hampered by uncertain conditions. As the rain came down, it looked as if that would be the session over, but the track dried up for the Moto3 grid to put in some laps.

Championship leader Joan Mir lines up second on the grid, with only a 0.2 second gap separating him and pole position. Nicolo Bulega rounds out the front row.

The top 19 were covered by an impressive one second gap, but bigger names such as Fabio Di Giannantonio and Andrea Migno were left towards the back of the grid, qualifying in 25th and 23rd respectively. Both Danny Kent and Maria Herrera have received 12 place grid penalties for riding slowly during practice, after rules have been tightened to stop riders dawdling in pit lane waiting for a tow.

Marc Marquez took the top spot in FP3, in a session that saw the top 13 covered by less than a second.

The morning began with Valentino Rossi suffering yet another mechanical issue, as he pulled up at the side of the track frustrated. Luckily for The Doctor, he managed to get back out on track on his second bike and ended the session in 6th.

A good session from Jonas Folger, who is eager to impress at his home round. The German went top in the early stages and stayed in the top 10 for the entirety of the session. He was pipped from the top spot only by Marquez and Maverick Viñales and ended up in 3rd, sending him straight into Q2.

A crash for Dani Pedrosa scuppered his session. Although he managed to re-join, he ended the session in 9th, hanging onto his place in Q2 by the skin of his teeth.

Johann Zarco is one of the main names who will have to fight his way through Q1. A crash in the closing ten minutes of the session meant he was unable to go back out, and will have to fight alongside the likes of Danilo Petrucci and Andrea Iannone for a place on the front three rows.

Surprisingly, Tito Rabat had secured himself a place in Q1 and it looked as if no other rider would push him out of the top 10. But enter Alvaro Bautista who has been consistent throughout the sessions so far, who shoved Rabat down to 11th.

Franco Morbidelli topped Moto2's final practice session from Taka Nakagami and Simone Corsi.

It was a straight forward session, with the biggest off being from Tarran Mackenzie. Thankfully, he was okay but his bike has probably seen better days.

Morbidelli was doing it all by himself, as he constantly set 1:24.4's. But when he had Thomas Luthi on his tail he set a scorcher of a lap - a 1:24.1, and nobody could get close to it. His team mate Alex Marquez was having another solid session, but seemed to be losing his time in the final sector. He finished in 7th, equaling his best free practice finish this weekend but improving his time by almost a second.

Marcel Schrotter is having a great weekend so far, arguably his best of the season. He's finished consistently near the top in all practices, and aims to translate that into the race. It is his home race too, and wants to impress in front of his home crowd.

  1. Franco Morbidelli, EG 0,0 Marc VDS -1:24.130

Joan Mir topped the time sheets in a dry, but extended free practice session. Ten minutes was added onto their final practice session because of yesterday's downpour.

A crash early on for Mahindra's Lorenzo Dalla Porta saw him trying to re-join, but he ended the session in 26th. Enea Bastianini also succumbed to the gravel during the session, and finished in 16th. Darryn Binder has been having a much more competitive season this year, but a crash saw him finish in 19th.

Bo Bendsneyder seems determined to make up for his crash over the line in Assen, and continued his string of impressive finishes to end the session in 2nd. His wildcard team mate Danny Kent finished in 6th, but his 12 place grid penalty still stands for the race.

  1. Joan Mir, Leopard Racing - 1:27.411
